Home invasion is a serious problem in today's society which is why there is an increase in the installation of security doors across the United States. No longer are criminals simply satisfied with burglary. They usually have much more in mind then simply clearing your house of valuable possessions. Your family and yourself are at risk for not just robbery but also violence.
Home invasions specifically refers to when someone enters your house knowing they are going commit theft and even worse, assault Most criminals seek out houses that are easy targets – that is houses with the path of least resistance. Most criminals will not spend any more then two minutes attempting to break in. Exterior security doors can prevent criminals from even bothering with your house. hy wait around and tinker with security doors when the family next door has none? To prevent home invasion make sure all exterior doors have dead bolts installed. While dead bolts are chunky and not exactly stylish it will deter criminals. Make sure your deadbolts are installed correctly. It should be long enough to penetrate into the stud of the door frame. If your dead bolt does not then you need to hire a locksmith and have them replaced. Additionally, doors can be fitted with steel jams which will not splinter like wood. Steel framed doors are extremely hard to kick in. Steel security doors and systems can be bought through your local security companies. These can easily be fitted into place where the old door frame was. This is an inexpensive and easy to way to make your home more secure. Patio doors are also a problem. They too need to be secured. However, there are no security doors for patio doors or door walls. Criminals can make easy work of patio doors because they can be lighted and disengaged from their tracks and locking mechanism. This too can be prevent. Simply get a metal pipe and insert it between the wall and the movable glass door when closed and locked. This makes it so no body from the outside can lift or slide the door. Besides having security doors, lighting is another great crime fighter. Having outside lights which are on motion detectors is a great way to scare off criminals. Any time motion is detected around your house at night the sensors will turn on the outside lights. One disadvantage to motion lights is that they will pick up the movement of outside critters like skunks, and cats. Most thieves do not want to make a scene and will run off instantly when the lights turn on. Lighting, securing patio doors, and installing security doors are all great measures in making your house and your family safe.
