For hundred of years home owners have been using a variety of materials to cover their window and door opening which has lead to the development of the retractable screen door. Everything from cloth rags to modern day steel mesh has been attempted and tinkered with to make the perfect window or door covering.
Screens are usually put up when the seasons become mild. Screen doors allow for ventilation and a bit of the outside to come inside. The taking down and storing of traditional screens doors can be time and space consuming. However, the use of the a retractable screen door makes it easier. There has been for the last two decades a dedicated team of engineers, employed by the Screen Manufacturers Association, which have been working on advances in both the design and material for future screens. The goal is to provide homeowners' with screen doors which are much more convenient and efficient. Their newest invention is the retractable screen door. This allows for the screen door to offer ventilation and protection from insects and also the ability to “disappear” when an unobstructed view is needed. This all can be done in a matter of seconds with a retractable screen door. These screens are mounted at the top of door or window, hidden from sight. The screen is placed in a low profile compartment. When the screen is needed it can be release simply by pulling it out and locking it through magnets at the bottom of the door frame. Retractable screen doors come with tracks which help guide the screen to stay in the proper position. Once the screen is no longer needed it can be pulled back into the discrete housing until it's next use. Here it remains safe, secure, and out of sight. These retractable screen doors can be customized to fit any door size or shape. A screen like this is ideal for sliding doors or outward opening doors where conventional screens just do not work. This type of screen has a single swing in or out function which works just as well on glass patio doors as with French doors. For larger areas motorized retractable screen doors can be installed. This is helpful around large patios, balconies, porches, and even garage entrances. There are a number of different materials available for the screens. These screen types include sun, shade, privacy screening, and special protective screening for children as well as pets. Whether you have an unusual entrance or just do not like unsightly screens, retractable screening may be the solution to your problem. A retractable screen door is great option where traditional screens for windows or doors just does not get the job done.
