Just because you have an old home does not mean you cannot take steps for making a grand entrance. For some reason, many people believe that to spruce up a home so it makes a powerful statement when people walk in means spending a fortune but the truth is that you can make a few changes to your home, changing the way it looks and feels. Making a grand entrance is a wonderful thing and we will provide you some tips on how to make it happen.
One of the most important things for making a grand entrance has to do with the entryway. Even if you have a small foyer or entryway, you can do a number of things to impress. For starters, consider the color of paint on the walls. While white is nice and clean, you might consider going with color, choosing something that pops. For instance, if you have an older home, nothing like making a grand entrance with a beautiful red or habanera pepper color paint. Another important tip for making a grand entrance has to do with the door. Unfortunately, when people fix up homes, they often overlook the importance of a good front door. We suggest that you invest in a new door, one with an oval or square windowpane with etching. If you find that a new door is not in the budget, you can still change the door while making a grand entrance, simply by using paint. For instance, if you have a neutral colored home, then choose a deep red or blue paint and change the appearance of the door. If your home is white or a pastel color, go with a coordinating color of paint. You also want to think about the door’s hardware when making a grand entrance. In fact, something as simple as a new doorknob set can make a huge difference in the appearance of your home. Switch out the old-fashioned and out of date gold knobs for brushed nickel, pewter, or antique brass. In addition, change out the brackets and hinges on the door and be sure you add a nice doorknocker. Again, making a grand entrance can cost you as little as $25. Then, make sure you also pay attention to the windows on the house for making a grand entrance. If you can afford to install new windows, great but if not, you might consider adding a new coat of white or off-white paint, which will breathe new life into otherwise tired looking windowsills. Then, you might consider adding shutters of a complementary color to the outside of the windows or wood blinds, which look great on the inside and the outside. As you can see, making a grand entrance does not have to be difficult or expensive and the results are truly amazing.
